KSU Memorial Stadium

I have received $6m to renovate one side of the Memorial Stadium that was used for Football from 1922 until the 1970's.  The second floor consisted of dorm rooms for the football players, the lower level had concessions, offices, classrooms and the dorm mom's apartment.
One end will be the Purple Masque Theater with offices and classrooms occupying the rest.
I moved the last occupants out the summer of 2010 consisting of Ceramics and Sculpture areas of the Art Department.  This is an animated slide show.

shopping

Would have been in the early sixties, a grocery store trip with my mother the week before Thanksgiving set an all time spending record.  I remember it well since I was the one who had to push the overloaded cart around and carry the groceries to the kitchen.
She spent right at $25 that trip, an all time record for us.

First Snow - Spring Here?

This last week we experienced the first snow of the season, one inch worth.
Today it was 60 deg and after hearing this song on an oldies station, I wanted to hear it again and again so here it is set to a variety of recent web photos I've saved.
The singer, Andy Gibb, was the youngest of the Bee Gees who died at the age of 30 in 1988.

New Flint Hills Discovery Center.
Located downtown by the bridge into Manhattan.  This town has more construction per ca pita than just about anywhere.  Most is attributed to adjacent Ft Riley, KSU, Junction City and the growth in Manhattan.
Building is almost finished (i.e. handrails missing), will open mid April.
This is an animated GIF 'slide show'.
Kansas is flat and there's nothing there.  Slow down and you'll find a lot.

Obama Budget

Land is being cleared, utilities extended, fences constructed and design well underway for new $650m NBAF Fed facility to be located adjacent KSU in Manhattan, KS.  I can see it from my office window.
Money now being spent is mostly from State contribution.
Obama has pulled the remaining funds from his proposed budget, I'm sure it has nothing to do with politics.
